CORE SUBJECT AREAS: 1.Christian Life and Witness – The student will look at conversion, Initiation, life and growth in the Holy Spirit, worship, discipleship and the importance of being ‘salt & light’ in the community.
2.The Life and teaching of Jesus – Our lives as Christian leaders must reflect the One who was incarnated into our world. Jesus was and is a humble servant of God who ministered with authority and compassion. We will learn how to teach/lead like Him and with Him.
3.Pastoral Theology – We will seek to understand the history, scope and challenges of pastoral care during the different stages of life as well as its biblical foundation.
4.Hermeneutics – It is vital to be able to understand the background and theology of the Old and New Testament; its inspiration, geography, history and culture in order to be able to interpret it and apply it with sensitivity to the world in which we live.
5.Homiletics – We need to be able to communicate the 'Good News' message of the bible in a way that is accurate, relevant and engaging through our words, actions and lifestyle.
6.Healing and Deliverance – The student will study the nature of sickness, learn to empathise with the afflicted, learn to discern its source if possible and minister with compassion and integrity. We will also grapple with the subject of evil and learn to minister with the authority and power of Jesus.
7.World Religions – Students will gain an understanding of the key beliefs of the dominant world religions and the truths that make the Christian faith utterly unique.
8.World Mission and Apologetics – A study of the history of transformational Christian Mission will include how we can make a defence of the Christian faith in a way that is clear, authoritative and effective. We will study its history, importance and share helpful resources.
9.The History and Theology of the Church The student will be taught how the church of Jesus grew at key phases of world history. We will also study the various models of church in diverse cultures and learn the importance of planting healthy expressions of Kingdom Life.
10.World Issues – We will be thinking biblically about a number of important topics like: Authority, Poverty, Prosperity, Sexuality, Race, War, Suffering, Persecution, and Disaster, etc. These will be studied according to the social context of each student who will be encouraged to ask the questions - what has God said about these issues in the past? what is God saying about them today?
